During the fall of 2023, LHJ Brand Strategies was hired to develop the brand and marketing elements of a unique organization and it's initiatives. We were tasked with introducing to the world The Mary McLeod Bethune Institute for the Study of Women and Girls. We absolutely love this kind of work... "Yes please!"





The Mary McLeod Bethune Institute for the Study of Women and Girls at Bethune-Cookman University is a specialized campus unit committed to addressing the unique needs of women and girls in the American experience and beyond. Its primary goals include recognizing challenges to gender equity and developing research and programmatic initiatives that redress the pervasive hurdles women and girls commonly encounter on their paths to success.ย 


Brand Identity Development

First of all, the business name "The Mary McLeod Bethune Institute for the Study of Women and Girls" is mighty long. However it's importance is every bit as great as it's namesake, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune the founder of Bethune-Cookman University. It is with this understanding that we chose to depict an image of her younger self along with her recognizable signature. The hope is that this logo along with subsequent identity assets would prove valuable in establishing and moving the brand forward.







A Web Presence Befitting Dr. Bethune's Legacy

With innovative storytelling abilities, we brought the vision of the Institute to life in a way that is both engaging and informative. The website showcases a seamless blend of stunning visuals and compelling narratives that highlight the importance of the Institute's mission.


We incorporated rich imagery and impactful text to captivate visitors and draw them into the story of Mary McLeod Bethune's legacy. The website not only serves as a resource but also as a source of inspiration, reflecting the strength and resilience of women and girls.ย Beauty and functionality drove our attention toward practical featuresโ€”such as responsive design, accessibility, and social media integrationโ€”ensuring that the website stands as a beacon for years to come.

Our mission through this appointed task was to create a seat at this well-documented table of profound "do-gooders", and reintroduce Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune's legacy to the present and future world.
